Toddler Bed: Too much freedom?

Tonight, for the very first time, Adella fell asleep in her toddler bed without even getting out to play.

It took us a little while, but we found a new apartment that is bigger.  We moved in right after our camping trip.  Here are some pictures:

Camping: Tents, Campers, Fish, Rocks, Kayaks

This is only one of (at least) three posts where Olivia tries to catch up with the Felix's ongoings... 

Near the end of August, Grandma and Grandpa Creps invited their family to go camping.  Naturally, Zane and I were dragging our feet because it would mean trying to sleep with Adella - in a tent - and I was not so hot on sleeping on the ground being seven months pregnant.  But we decided it would be a great opportunity for Adella's first camping trip because grandma and grandpa would have their camper if we needed it.  The camping spot was nestled right against Trial Lake in the Uinta Mountains.  On arrival, we were greeted with booming thunder and cold rain causing us to hide in the camper.  As the sun set, the weather improved and we were able to enjoy the fire with no mosquitos.  Sleeping was interesting, as Adella was snuggled between Zane and I to keep her warm.  But because of mom's multiple trips to the camper for the restroom that night, Adella didn't remain asleep the entire night and was squirming by five in the morning.

Thankfully the sun finally rose and Adella was wrapped up in her jackets and set loose to collect rocks to her heart's content...   

Adella would pick up rocks and hand them to whoever was closest.  Later in the afternoon she would collect them in her cup and throw them into the lake. 

Mark asked Zane early in the morning to go out on the Kayak and then he got to go onto the water with Riley later.

I got a fishing licence to spend some time fishing and actually caught a few.  Most of them were smaller than this one, but it was fun!

We only spent one night and day there, but we had so much fun, and Adella loved her very first camping trip.

Ultrasound: Boy or Girl?

Our appointment for our ultrasound was on the eleventh, which was a hard wait to wait for.  As we got started, Adella was a bit nervous, but once Zane sat her up next to my face, she got more comfortable.  The pictures here aren't as good as Adella's were, but they are sweet and we love seeing our little one.  The technician asked if we wanted to know the gender, and of course we want to be well prepared for the baby so our answer was yes!  As she searched she suddenly said she could tell, but didn't say anything.  I was watching and noticed that the image wasn't anything like Adella's.  I was right, we are for sure having a BOY!

Summer Activity: Delli's Forte

Zoo: ssss, gah gah gah, rrrrrr, qua qua

Saturday was Adella's first trip to the zoo and it started early for her.  By the time we arrived at the gates, she was ornery and tired.  But, even though we were greeted first by some of the exhibits from the Jurassic era, Adella got to see an animal that she could mimic.  Turkey!  Gah Gah Gah!  The walk around the park started out slow, but eventually Adella opened up and began to enjoy the experience by pointing and giggling.  She saw and made sounds for elephant, snake, monkey, tiger (actually her lion), and duck.

Her pick of the best animal was the giraffe, which we were able to get close to.  By the time we returned to the north gates to ride the train, Adella was exhausted and probably hot, like her mom and dad.   

She was practically asleep as we waited in line for our turn, but when we got on and going, Adella perked right up and watched intently as we traveled through a small portion of the zoo.  And for being such a good girl, Adella got a memento - a purple giraffe!

Dad doused Delli with water for the ride home, which was quiet.



Summer: late to arrive, early to leave

Knowing the little bit of fantastic, warm weather would move onward and bless others before it stays for the season, Zane and I made sure to make it fun!  We've taken advantage of a swing Riley and Treesa hung in the back yard, and Adella giggles wildly and says, "Wee."

We also purchased a small swimming pool for the little one.  We first put her in it yesterday, after letting it sit in the sun to warm up the water.  The temperature didn't change much, but Adella didn't mind and splashed her hands while saying, "Wee."  Eventually her lips turned purple and she began to chatter her teeth, so playtime was over.

On a side note: I am also proud, as a mom, to finally say, my daughter's hair is now long enough to do something with!  Wee!
