Summer: late to arrive, early to leave

Knowing the little bit of fantastic, warm weather would move onward and bless others before it stays for the season, Zane and I made sure to make it fun!  We've taken advantage of a swing Riley and Treesa hung in the back yard, and Adella giggles wildly and says, "Wee."

We also purchased a small swimming pool for the little one.  We first put her in it yesterday, after letting it sit in the sun to warm up the water.  The temperature didn't change much, but Adella didn't mind and splashed her hands while saying, "Wee."  Eventually her lips turned purple and she began to chatter her teeth, so playtime was over.

On a side note: I am also proud, as a mom, to finally say, my daughter's hair is now long enough to do something with!  Wee!

Little Miss Muffett Vs. The Spider that Sat Down Beside Her:

Hello everyone! For Adella's birthday, we made a cake for her to tear up. Going along with the nursery rhyme theme, Adella is little miss muffett and the cake is the spider that sat down beside her. Enjoy!!!

1 Year:

After all of the stress and preperation, Adella's first birthday is over.  Her day was very special, with special guests at her party!  Grandma and Grandpa Felix traveled the approximately three hours to spend her special day with her, as did my siblings, parents, and aunt.

First, before the day arrived, we made some adorable invitations, thanks to Zane's artistic talent.  Our themewas nursery rhymes:

We made a clock cake to go with Hickory Dickory Dock, and then a small spider cake for Adella to eat herself from Little Miss Muffet.

This is Adella's birthday dress!  She looked cute, but because she's not walking, had a hard time getting around.

Orange: an interestingly fun wall color

I have wanted to paint since we were given permission, and I suppose I was overzealous, but our wall is now orange.  It's brighter than we expected, but it's fun and different!

Wisdom Teeth: No one really knows why they're there

Having my wisdom teeth removed was a necessity, and there is only one thing about the whole event that made me sad - I didn't get to have my little one cheering me up!

Climbing: A treacherous pastime

Adella is getting to be quite a character.  I've watched her grab hold of and shake our end table, her crib, and pretty much anything she can stand next to. But lately, Adella has become quite the climber.  Unfortunately she climbs on quite odd things or into something (nothing frightening yet, thankfully).  Just today, I had to install her newest car seat into my mom's car and had it sitting in the living room until she arrived.  I had to keep my eyes on her as she inspected and climbed on it.   We have caught her in the act many times and love the way she smiles, pleased with herself.

Inside of her old car-seat, which she normally abhors.
